Here’s a video of my brother being the man on the street in DC.

“Dan, you are so not a good Oreo priest!” - Shelley Scranton

(Said after I was holding a package of Oreo’s and imitating the singing of Catholic Priests and then brought the package to the wrong place)

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

Tonight Dungeon Masters, Blue Elves from some foreign land and other nerds across the country will be leaving their parents basement to wait in line to get the latest installment of JK Rowlings Harry Potter series.

The fun part is that I’ll be there too.

Having left my parents basement not too long ago and just recently quitting my paper route means a lt of life change but Harry Potter is something that I can let go of. I won’t be traveling by myself though, I talked some friends into accompanying me. (only one admits enjoying the books, thanks Shanna)

In all seriousness, I think its a great thing when kids are encouraged to dream, use their imaginations, and all that great kids stuff. Because they are kids and this is what kids do. I do, however, think it’s scary when 35 year old men feel the need to dress up as the someone from a different galaxy.

So yes, I’ll be in line and if you’re there too, say “hello” just leave the costume at home (unless your a kid).

I was sent this great article about what the world is wondering about the last installment.
(Thanks Steve)

Connect. Grow. Live.

YPCV keeps the party going Thursday, July 19th at Peaks View Park. Bring $5 for hot dogs, coleslaw, chips, ice cream and so much more. Lots of fun in the sun, like hiking trails, volleyball, and Frisbee Golf. We will have some fun door prizes and great music provided by The Drop.

Come on out, meet other Young Professionals from the area and enjoy the gorgeous Virginia weather. If you have questions or need directions, just email jamieq@ypcentralva.org. The picnic starts at 5:35pm but come whenever you can.

Then, afterwards join us at the Corner Cafe for a beverage or two of your choice and 1/2 priced appetizers. May we suggest the frickles … be careful … they are addictive! For those of you who may not know, frickles = fried pickles! And don’t knock ‘em until you try ‘em!

See you on Thursday! Click the picture to RSVP.
