Blue On Blue - Leigh Nash

Leigh Nash’s first Solo project, Blue On Blue is an incredible effort. Her collaboration with Pierre Marchand (Sarah McLachlan, Rufus Wainwright) is something of real beauty. Listening to the album straight through, I get a real sense of calm before the storm, and by storm I mean the all out blitz to scoop up these songs for movies, shows and commercials (this means you music directors for Grey’s Anatomy, Smallville and The OC). Since that fateful day in 1993 Nash and Sixpence None The Richer Co-conspirator, Matt Slocum have been on my radar and I got bit by the bug. As Sixpence they had several lineup changes but there was always strong writing with complex musical parts. Thankfully that has remained true with this effort.

For the track lineup, this is a very strong album front to back. Taking cues from Sir Paul McCartney and the mid-Beatles work the instrumentation sets the canvas as Nash’s voice soars, painting pictures of fresh emotions and expressions of new life with her husband and first child.

Since the fans of Ms. Nash have become rabid with desire, One Son (Nash’s Label) in conjunction with Nettwerk have released a single EP with 4 racks until the August 15th release of the full album. If you’re crafty, you can listen to this full album at Download.com and you can get a lot of info on this album straight from Leigh Nash herself. Click here to download and interview with her, she talks about recording in Canada, new experiences and what she’s been up to for the past two years.
