MACRoCk Day 2
April 10th, 2006

7AM is really too early to wake up for a music conference (or any day for that matter) but with so much happening, sleeping in wasn’t an option. The first few hours of the day are spent with last minute preparations for THE DROP booth at the Label Expo. I’m joined by some incredible women who make the day an amazing experience.
I hit the radio conference luncheon and meet several students from radio station Executive teams from up and down the east coast. It was such a thrill to flesh out real problems and just be with a group who are fostering problem solving behavior, critical thinking and careful communication with their audiences, administration and their staff.
After the panel it’s off to the label expo - and it’s PACKED. I was at the expo last year and it was at least 3-4 times more the attendees over the previous year. I get a chance to talk with a bunch of very cool people from Ohio, Tennesee, Florida and New Hampshire. In addition I get to rub shoulders with some incredible people from film companies and start up record labels. Looking out over the room I could just feel all the creative energy.
Over the course of the afternoon I get to talk with the makers of the upcoming documentary on MACRoCk and first year preformers at the Conference, Staristdeous front man, Ryan Curtis. When the dinner bell rings, I grab dinner with the newest additions to Noreaster Failed Industires, A New Dawn Fades and their respective better halves. Also in the mix are the kindly gentlemen from NFI as well. I always dig it when my first impression of someone is that I could really like this person and once the conversation gets deeper my opinion isn’t wrong. Such was the case with Matt and John from NFI, great guys with good taste and incredible vision.
A Big Thank you to both Brittany and Lauren without them the day would not have been the incredible day that it was. All the audio from the day will soon be available on THE DROP: Special Edition - MACRoCk Part 2.
