I’ll be joining some very knowledgable and cool people from around the industry for a discussion about the specific needs that college radio stations run into. How they overcome those needs and what their game plan should be. I’m really looking forward to April 7-8th for some great bands, meeting new people and networking with students up and down the east coast. The lineup for the round table discussion is below.
Speakers include:
Jessica Clary, advisor, SCAD Radio
Matthew Field, Associate Editor, CMJ Magazine
Dan Portnoy, Superhero Enterprises
Ben Zalman, Planetary Group

Don’t miss Jose Gonzalez tonight on Conan O’Brian. NBC at 12:30 Eastern. His music is incredible and I’ve become a HUGE fan recently. His most recent album, “Veneer” is a gem.
Comedic Hilarity

Ask A Ninja - For me this is the quintescential podcast. Consistant hilarious content without going overboard.

Ministry Of Unknown Science (explicit warning)- These gents offer a perspective slightly left of center but always hysterical.

Happy Tree Friends (WARNING - Many loveable cartoon furry animals get harmed in this podcast) Definitely mind numbing but that doesn’t mean I can shut it off.

Despair Inc. Video Podcast - From the makers of demotivators, the despair Inc crew bring you life inside corporate hell. (ala. Office Space, The Office) but with an odd and sometimes disturbing slant. It’s genius!

Strong Bad Emails & More - You have to love Homestar Runner…. ok.. actually I didn’t think it was that funny at first (sacriledge I know) but I really got into the Strong Bad Emails. Check out his adventures.
Music/Hipster Cool
KCRW - Morning Becomes Eclectic Mix
I just found this and I love it. Hosted By Nick Harcourt it’s a video podcast with some very cool people. Duncan Sheik, Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins, The Walls - The thing is, you’ve got to stay upon it because they don’t keep the episodes up that long.

NPR: All Songs Considered - Usually a good heads up on some new stuff that’s coming down the pipe. Peppered with live events from D.C.’s 9:30 Club.

Cool Hunting Video - With features about what cool really is. No models, no “professionals” but genuine good content and neat features.

Free Radio Sub Pop - subscribe to get super wicked cool music with the regular single releases from Sub Pop. Highlights include Rogue Wave, Helio Sequence, Slater Kinney, and Chad Van Gaalen.

Of Course I want to mention THE DROP - But I’ll only do it fo a moment
Paul Scheer, Comedic Mastermind
You’ve seen his face on VH1’s The Best Week Ever, and in The Upright Citizen’s Brigade Improv Theatre. But this week, “the hardest working man in basic cable” joins me on the show for mano e mano time. Paul gives us his take on everything happening in the world of pop culture, the world wide web and the GOOCH.
Nada Surf is now setting a new standard in pop music. Their hooks are incredible and the beats impressive. Nada Surf drummer and famed storyteller, Ira Elliott, talks about life on the road, traveling to Cannes and working with Chris Walla. (Death Cab for Cutie)
